Terms of service

The deal between you and Margio

These terms govern your use of the Margio app for Shopify. By installing or using Margio, you agree to them. If you are using Margio for a business, you accept these terms on its behalf.

Last updated: 13 June 2026

1. The service

Margio is a financial intelligence app for Shopify merchants. It reads your store data to build dashboards, product and customer insights, costs and margins, and tax and financial reports. On the Pro plan, you can connect a bank account through Plaid for a read only view of your cash flow, and use an AI analyst to ask questions about your numbers. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

2. Eligibility and your account

You need an active Shopify store to use Margio, and you must comply with Shopify's own terms. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information in your store and for keeping your access secure. You must have the authority to connect any bank account you link.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Margio offers a Starter plan at $19 per month and a Pro plan at $49 per month, in US dollars. New stores get a 14 day free trial with full Pro features. All charges are billed monthly in advance through Shopify's billing system and appear on your Shopify invoice. Prices may change with notice; a price change never affects the period you have already paid for.

4. Refunds and cancellation

You can cancel at any time by uninstalling Margio or downgrading your plan. Cancelling stops future charges. Because subscriptions are billed monthly in advance, we do not generally refund the current month, and partial months are not pro rated. If something has gone wrong with your billing, email support@margio.app and we will deal with it fairly. Some billing matters are handled by Shopify under their billing terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Margio for anything unlawful, or to break Shopify's, Plaid's, or any other provider's terms;
  • attempt to access another merchant's data, or any data or systems you are not authorised to access;
  • reverse engineer, copy, resell, or build a competing product from the service;
  • interfere with or overload the service, or bypass its security or rate limits;
  • upload malicious code, or use the app to store or transmit anything you do not have the right to;
  • misrepresent your store data or use the app to deceive others.

You are responsible for your own data and for meeting your legal obligations to your customers, including how their personal data is handled.

6. Not financial, accounting, or tax advice

This matters, so read it. Margio organises and reports your own numbers. Everything it produces, including dashboards, margin and cash flow figures, tax reports, set aside estimates, and answers from the AI analyst, is for information only. It is not financial, accounting, investment, or tax advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional.

You are responsible for your own filings, returns, and financial decisions. Always check important figures with your accountant or tax adviser before you act on them. Margio does not tell you what tax you owe or file anything on your behalf.

7. Your data and third parties

Our handling of your data is described in our Privacy Policy, and, where we process your customers' personal data on your behalf, our Data Processing Agreement, both of which form part of these terms. Margio relies on third party providers, including Shopify, Plaid, and Anthropic, each with their own terms. We are not responsible for the availability or actions of those providers, though we choose them carefully.

8. Intellectual property

Margio and everything in the app, other than your data, belongs to us. Your data stays yours. By using Margio you grant us the limited permission needed to process your data to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy and DPA.

9. Service availability and disclaimer

We work hard to keep Margio accurate and available, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that every figure will be complete or correct, since the data comes from Shopify, your bank, and other sources we do not control.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Margio is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost data, or decisions made based on the information the app provides. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Termination

You can stop using Margio at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or use the app in a way that risks harm to others or to the service. When the app is uninstalled, your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Margio after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand have non exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
